When I attach a picture, the send arrow is MMS and after I press it, it says Sending... Still says Sending... 10 minutes later. If I just send a text the arrow is SMS and after I press it, text goes through. What is MMS and why can't the photo go through?

Did you change carriers and keep the same phone? It sounds like your APN needs configured.

There's been a bunch of wierd things going on with MMS lately. I'm sure it has something to do with compatibility issues with SMS. At any rate, barring any issues with a slow connection, I've encountered the "Schedule Message" direction a lot lately. If I go ahead and schedule the message, without picking a time to schedule mind you, the message goes through pretty quickly. It happens with any message, including pictures via text.
I have no idea what is causing this. I'm normally on wifi at the house, so I'm kinda ruling out Verizon, but who knows.

MMS means Multimedia Messaging Service and it's what is used for sending non-text (SMS or Short Message Service) over cellular networks. You need to have a data connection - NOT WiFi - to use this. If I were to guess, you have a very old mobile phone, even a flip phone, and I wonder if it's restricted to 3G. 3G networks are being shut down. Do you use AT&T or a provider that piggybacks on AT&T's network ?

I used to have that issue when my mobile data was switched off, and I was running only on WiFi at home. I would try disconnecting from WiFi and running on mobile data only as a troubleshooting step.

It's a year old phone and running on wifi at home I guess. Signal strength shows 3 bars and 4 beams.

try turning off wifi and see what happens as a troubleshooting step.

also what brand phone and what firmware is on it?
ie nokia unlocked
or samsung a11 AT&T

Android 8.1.0 is dated, no longer supported and no longer getting security updates. I hope you don't use your phone to do anything sensitive on.

Turned off wifi. Still shows as sending. Already emailed the photo so not important now, but is the thought that wifi won't send photos?
No, SMS/MMS doesn't work over WiFi.

Turn off WiFi and try to re-send it. The message that's still in the queue as "Sending" isn't likely to change.

I've never used anything BUT WiFi. It has always sent both SMS & MMS perfectly without hesitation. This is true for the current and previous four (or more) phones.

Have you tried restarting the phone?

Seriously. Just do it, I have to quite a bit.

This may be a "year old phone" but LG quit making phones some time ago and you're looking at a NOS "bargain". Wifi calling / texting has always been a flaky feature though it has gotten better in later versions of Android. If you need to use it a lot this is a reason to buy a newer phone.

If you have a cell signal where you are, turn wifi off before rebooting to force it to use cellular from the beginning.

second what dishdude said about your APN. This is exactly how the phone would behave if there's a problem with it.
+2
There are several MMS settings under the APN settings in your phone. These server and proxy settings must be correct for your MMS to function.
