FOR WHAT ITS WORTH, several years ago, i used motor master 10w30 along with a new filter in an older nissan picup i used for one of my INDEVORS, about 5 minutes after the oil change was done, my employee ,who never left the yard, said. I THINK i blew the engine!!! what a smoke show. told him, pull the plugs, check rad for oil. checked compression, all good. drained oil, new filter. re filled with penzoil. smoke cleared up in 10-15 minutes. believe last owner still running it. tried motor master in a chevy S-10 same problem. oil change/ problem gone. asked service manager at CTC who makes the oil? said he did not know. ONLY OIL I BUY AT CANADIAN TIRE IS AMSOIL SABRE for my outboard. Why the smoke????? i don't know' but i will NEVER use ctc oil for anything. TOFINO TOM

How expensive is this oil for a 20 litre pail ?

This is what's in my Cummins right now. About $35/5L. Price doesn't change much if you buy it by the 1L jug or 20L pail, it's still ~$7/L.

I don't know what CT used years ago, but all their stuff is from SOPUS now and has the latest certifications.

Well, I have the Motomaster 10W30 oil in the Dodge truck for three weeks now and it seems to be doing just fine. No smoke and engine turns over easy at start up - hasn't been below minus 15C yet since it was installled. Maybe really cold temperaturs will make a difference.
Anyhow - so far it appears to be just fine.

Thanks

Shell (as in the maker of Rotella) makes Canadian Tire oils.

This 10w-30 HDEO is possilby re-bottled Rotella 10w-30 HDEO or something from their lower line, which will still be a good quality oil from a very reputable maker. And paying regular price at Canadian Tire on anything is guaranteed to be a rip-off. It's their policy. You need to wait until things go on sale there.
