I'm starting to have some problems with quenching 01 tool steel.
I have moved to a colder climite etc.. I have been reading up on different things to try. The one besides buying QUENCHING OIL is to use SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL. or SYNTHETIC ATF. both of these were regarded as very good. My question is can someone tell me where I can find flash points of different oils? To me synthetics would be the most stable & consistate in any climite. I know synthetics have a high flash point, but I understand some are non-flamable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope I posted this in the right place, if not please e-mail so I can find it.
THANKS,
Craig

I don't understand why you're looking at flash points if you're having quench problems. Are you you running into cracking problems? It is the thermal transfer rate of the quenchant that you want to consider. I have a book dedicated to quenchants at work. I'll put it to use for you if you can define the problem.
