Guys, I couldn't believe the size of the oil filter on my new V6 Camaro! It's a filter cartridge and it is no larger than a Tylenol bottle

Have any of you noticed this small of a filter for other newer vehicles?

My Cobalt uses a cartridge, but I think it's pretty beefy -- probably close to the PF47 cannister that my Malibu uses.

I have noticed this as well, although my cartridge filter is on my GXP. A high quality cartridge is probably going to do as well or better than a large canister filter, so I wouldn't be worried.

Plus, it is a breeze to change now, so I keep a couple filters on hand so I can change when I feel like it without having to worry about the oil loss.

How small is small? Smaller than the PF 457 used in the Ecotecs?

They are about 2'' x 3'' and have a little over 100 sqin media.

It doesn't appear much bigger than 2x the size of an axle breather tube filter. :-P

Well, they don't have the PureOne or a Mobil 1EP for the V6 Camaro yet, so I went with the regular Purolator over the AC Delco. I did notice they have a WIX and a K&N for it, though.

Do you guys think one of those would be a better choice next time over the standard Purolator?

I like the quality I continually see out of WIX, but if their filter isn't Made in USA and Purolator's is, stick with it.

I looked in the boxes of (2) consecutive Purolator filters for my model car and they didn't look half the quality of my, unfortunately, foreign-made WIX cartridge so I bought more WIX...

The 6.2 V8 Camaro uses the same Wix filter as my 08 3.6 Malibu LTZ 57060, what ever happaened to the 1qt filters

I have no idea why somebody would use a Purolator over the OEM if you can get it for about the same price.

Because from what I have read, Purolator is a better filter than AC Delco. Pretty simple idea, actually

The V6 Camaro uses an AC PF2129 or Wix 57090. I was more impressed with the AC as it had more pleats and a slightly fuzzier media (I know, very scientific). I have not examined a Purolator and can't locate the Mobil1 M1C-254 for comparison.

My g35 uses a m1-108 it's like the smallest filter i've ever seen. same as the nissan 3.5 and 2.5 ones i think? it's so tiny but i've never actually seen a plugged oil filter so idk they prolly know what they're doing?

I read information here on this site. I have no idea why you would have such a problem with the choices of oil filters that I make, but thanks. Now move on.
