Euro cars aren't that great for the US market, because of the specs and cost. My BMW has mediocre lights (worst car I have driven for lights), but the same model with Euro-spec lights is fantastic.
I replaced my old Honda's pop-up lights (sealed beam) with Cibie euro lights and they were fantastic and didn't blind people.
Here it seems that brighter, not better pattern is all that works.
