I have a 92 Paseo with a 1.5L 5EFE engine, problems is that it only has a 3Qt Oil Capacity. I would like to put an external filter/bypass to add a qt or so of oil. Anyone have any experiece with the Toyota 1.5s? Where would be the best place to tap about 5% to route to the bypass?

Usually the oil pressure sending switch.

I have a 1.5 NZ1-FE with a bypass. I removed the sending unit and installed a splitter type fitting available at hardware stores. FYI, the bypass I have, OilGuard, adds squat to oil capacity. Might be beneficial just to add a reservoir with check valve to gain capacity.

why do you want more pressurized oil doin nothing when you infact are worried about your oil amount in the pan?
Get/ make or modify your oilpan instead.
Dont overfill due to windage. As an old racer i know theres alot to gain in good oil control, keeping windage down etc.
But keeping a quart of pressurized oil extra? ok maybe in a accusump or somthing.

ac - That's a good point. Without oil level control when the vehicle is turned off and drained down, there could be additional problems.

Why not just get a bigger oil filter and change at 3000? Or you could add a very big oil cooler and get it to 4 quarts.
