I generally don’t “dicker” on guns - the price is either something I am willing to pay, or it isn’t. That said, I get Glocks at the “Blue Label” price, Springfield Armory at the “First Line” price (which saved me a bunch on the M-1A), and a few others with similar pricing.
That said, I have “dickered” on some high end items, like a watch, and the dealer was more than willing to make an adjustment to the listed price. Being a cash (not credit card) buyer helps, because they are then saving the 3% charge from Visa, which improves their margin.
So, in this case, if you have a local dealer that carries Dan Wesson, it might be worth bringing in the Bud’s Gun Shop advertised price on the gun you want and gently inquire if your dealer can match that. They might. If not, then, they lose the sale and have to settle for the transfer fee.
By the way, I wrote about my Dan Wesson a while back. Now that DW has sorted it, it is a reliable firearm and a real pleasure to shoot. Finely made, crisp trigger, great accuracy.
They stood behind their product and I would buy a Dan Wesson again in a heartbeat.
