a friend and I have gone (with our girlfriends) a few times. It is a fun place, their food is good, and its all fmaily style. Better Italian type food than say, olive garden, but not as good as a real Itai place. Youll have fun, just don't pig out... its easy to do so there!

What's their "serving style" like? I haven't been to anything other than Chinese banquets in my life...at least from my memory.

OK, think Americanized dim sum with LARGE servings and an actual server instead of old ladies pushing carts.

there is a menu, which is actually the tablecloth, if I recall correctly. you pick what you want, tell the server, and they bring you out large dishes of the foods you order. you need to pick vegetables, starches, meat, etc.

It all comes in large service bowls, and everyone pulls from these bowls to their plate.

also known as 'family style'...

It's a good place; kinda pricey for the quality IMO. I actually think Olive Garden is better.

If you want a really good time, make reservations for the kitchen table (not applicable to you Critic since it's a Banquet).

My former building was right next to a Buca...what puzzled me is that they weren't even open for lunch....dinner only.

Went there for dinner once...I guess it's a little too rowdy there for my taste. It was loud!!! I hate having to shout across the table to carry on a conversation. The food was good, but pricey for what it was.

I've eaten there a few times. It was OK, but nothing to write home to Italy about. Being Italian I've had my share of quality Italian food.

Far better than glorified fast food joints such as Olive Garden and Fazoli's, but not as good as real Italian food.

I agree with michaelc80. It's OK, but not the best I've had. My wife and I haven't been there in a few years because we weren't satisfied with the service we received, but that varies between locations.

Not as good as Olive Garden, and expensive. Family style at picnic tables is not my idea of a good evening. Of course to each their own.

Much better than Olive Garden (sucks, will never return), but not primo Italiano fair. Dining in the kitchen is a hoot.

If you can get the Pope room all to yourself, with a group of friends it's a all good. The veal is good, eggplant tasty, etc

Buca sucks bigtime. Been there 3 times and I've NEVER been impressed at all. Go to Carrabas or Macaroni Grill if you have one of those.

Buca even serves their parmesan in shakers. Haha. Classy Italian joint there.

Shaker cheese only? Yeah that sucks - they didn't used to have that, but I haven't been for 2-3 years. I think going big chain killed them. I've only been to the one in Lynnwood, WA which is one of the originals (as is the one in Seattle near the Space Needle) - so I should have tempered my comments. In general Italian chain food sucks. Never been to a Carrabas, but Macaroni Grill is terrible as well.

At $10 for me, worth a try. Will have to see if it's worth $30/person though.

Possibly prom material...dunno.

I went to this place two weeks ago. if you sign up at the website, you get a coupon for a free appetizer. then a few days ago, I got an email saying if I spend $30 there I get $10 off my meal but it was only for a few days.
