Anyone ever bruised a tooth? Last Sunday I recall biting down on something hard when I was eating ribs. I don't think I cracked a tooth or anything, but I didn't notice anything was wrong until a few days later when the gums felt swollen on that side. At first my thinking was that maybe my gingivitis was coming back, but I think that since the pain is primarily in that exact spot that I bit down I'm thinking I bruised the gum. Anyone else ever do this? I can still eat normally and everything, that tooth just feels compressed. How long does it take for it to heal? Sometimes it's hardly noticeable at all, like when I wake up in the morning it feels totally normal. It isn't getting any worse, so I'm holding off on visiting the dentist for at least a few more days. It just a very dull ache that's there, but not noticeable really.

You have no clue what's really going on, to the extent that you're asking for dental advice in the off topics section of an oil forum. See your dentist and find out what's really going on. It could be something simple, or it could be a cracked/broken tooth. Especially if you have a history of gum disease (gingivitis).

Go see your dentist. Call bank first for a line of credit.

m.o.m.--your thread topics, in the last couple of months, have been entertaining.mostly, you just want someone to talk to. and, that's fine.many here do the same.
to ask people on an oil/car website for advice about a dental problem is not really smart.you waited a full week, without doing the obvious ( getting help from your dentist), and then ask for help on bitog. wow.
you might as well use turtle's method, mentioned above.it would unfold like a cartoon.

there are seven of us here, playing cards, having some laughs, and a couple of brandies.we're reading your thread, and all are lol.we all thank you for the entertainment.

seriously,seek help. I mean a dentist.why delay the inevitable ? good luck.

You may have cracked a tooth, sometimes it won't get identified only to finally break away several months later. Hopefully it calms down and be fine. Go with your gut. You can't avoid that side indefinitely.

MOM,

Take this as someone trying to help. Join a gym or a church. Find some people and friends to chat and hang out with. As mentioned above your topics have clearly shown the need to socialize with people, in real life. BITOG can only do so much for a person. The topics have clearly shown an attempt for attention and wanting friends. Only you can make it happen.

Now, go to the dentist if it doesn't feel better in a few days, Shouldn't need to think you have to consult BITOG for this. Sometimes gums get inflamed or irritated and takes a bit to clam down.

x1

See your Dentist !!

Is there a sharp pain in the tooth when you eat sugary or cold food? If so it might be cracked.

Also, you might have gotten a piece of something jammed up into your gums and it's causing an abscess.

No it's just a dull pain that feels exactly as if I bit down too hard. The pain does come and go.

Don't chew on that side and Tylenol until you can get to a dentist

IME, if you physically go to make the appointment, and you explain your pain, there judgment of the problem may get you seen sooner

Bah, I don't see the problem in asking. This is the off-topic area, and compared to some of the other topics discussed... hardly that bad.

If it hasn't gone away after a few days, I'd just go see a dentist. At the very least call them. Yes you will pay. That's life, and it's why one saves up money for this sort of thing.

BTW, my wife just lost an uncle due to an abscessed tooth. Seriously, waited too long, wound up in the hospital, killed him. Now, I wasn't there and perhaps there were complications--but the hospital said if he had come in a couple weeks earlier, he'd still be here. It's a shame too, as there is three dentists in the family, and I bet any of the three would have pulled the tooth for free, if money had been a problem.

This.

How often do you go to a dentist and how old are you?

27. My teeth were sealed as soon as I got my permanent teeth in and I haven't ever had a cavity since then. I was at the dentists office about a year ago, that's when they treated me for gingivitis. It doesn't feel as bad now as the last time. I'm not sure why I seem to have dental problems now, before last year I hadn't been to a dentist in like 9 years.

I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. Might as well just see what's going on instead of guessing. Hopefully it's not too bad. I can still chew normally and everything, so who knows. The funny thing is it actually feels better after chewing.
