Had to pull the dash in my jeep to replace the hvac box its self as the locks that hold the blower in broke. Bough a complete box from ebay. My old evaporator was 90% plugged and just nasty. Even had a dead mouse in there!

Cleaned up the new box. Cleaned the newused evaporator. Got all the doors working as well as put a new heater in it.

Been playing with orifice tube sizes and charge amounts.

Its currently 102F and im cold lol

My rav4 needs the dash pulled to do an evaporator quote 1500 labor. Wish I could do it

When i worked at Jeep dealer in late 90s thru mid 2000s,Wranglers and Cherokees (XJ) had very cold AC.
My jeep has not cooled well in many years. I think the evaporator has been plugged for many years. The bottom of it had a full 2 inches of whatever around it in the case and the rest of the evaporator was covered in a 1/8 thick mess.

Chris, you might want to consider installing an aftermarket cabin air filter adapter to keep the debris from entering the HVAC plenum. I've been eyeballing one of these units for my TJ:

TJ Cabin Air Filter - eBay

TJ Cabin Air Filter - Etsy
