Browning Buckmark Camper problems

I have a Browning Buckmark Camper that I'm having trouble with. The problem happens with both of my magazines. The gun will shot a few round and then jam. I pull the trigger and nothing happens. The slide is jammed shut and it takes a good effort to pull the slide back. About 90% of the round ejects and it is in good shape and I will reload it and it fires fine. About 10% of the time, the round is bent, sometimes quite a lot.

The gun has about 500 rounds through it and I clean it after each trip to the range. Any ideas what to do to fix this issue?

Has the firing pin impacted the cartridge rim? Or does it seem like the slide or bolt is twisted and it's not hitting the cartridge?

Good question and unfortunately, I don't have any spend casings to look at. I'll go shoot it again in a week or two and see how the firing pin is impacting.

Maybe a bent or broken extractor?

Check the two screws that hold the top rail. They have a tendency to work lose which causes cycling problems.

The two screws on top were snug but I tightened them up a tad. Don't want to strip them so I didn't go too crazy tightening them.

Seems to be a feeding or striker problem, would the extractor cause that? If I had stovepipes, I'd go after the extractor more.

Any chance you have the 2 top strap screws reversed? One is slightly longer than the other.

Don't know. I only had one box of ammo with me. Some Winchester hollow points. Will try some other types of ammo next time after I check those screws to make sure I didn't mix them up.
