Broke down and bought a snow blower, what oil?

Does it have a plug in electric start? If so, use it whether you need it or not or the starter drive will freeze/rust up. PITA to repair.

No, it was another $150 and I wanted to avoid any future headaches.

I have been using M1 HM 5w-30, and now syn maxlife 5w-30 in a craftsman with a chonda (mtd). Very easy to pull start and starts on first pull.

It's not the brown that gets me ... it's the silver.

After 2 1/2 hours I drained the factory oil from my B&S generator with a 342cc engine, it looked the same. I'm now running B&S synthetic 5W-30 oil and after 7+ hours it's still amber, don't know about new metal particles on the bottom of the pan though. I'll find out when I drain it at 15 or so hours on this OCI run. I'm not crazy about running it 50 hours between changes yet. No power outages yet to really test it, just maintenance runs.
