Brand loyal convert

Brand loyalty is counterproductive for consumers.
Brand loyalty breeds complacency.
Without Brand Loyalty, manufacturers feel added pressure.
This pressure can be a positive thing for the consumer.

I turned into Apple loyal because products work well for me and integrate so well, the AirPods especially across a Mac, iPhone and watch.

Otherwise not really.

Once was extremely brand loyal (vehicles, oil, gas, parts, etc.) As time passed I stepped outside of my preferences for various reasons. Never had any serious problems or issues. Now I’m brand agnostic as a result.

Brand loyal, yay or nay? Why?
I under to be but not so much anymore. Part of it is because Ive come to realize that every vehicle has its issues and that they all use the same components anyways.
Part of it too is that being brand loyal just closes your mind to the fact that maybe theres something out there that is better.
When I was a kid, it was Fords because thats what my parents drove. Then it was Toyota because of their quality. Nowadays its Kia and Hyundai because they have the lowest cost of ownership. Lately its looking like it might be swinging back to Ford because Ford is coming out with some cool stuff and doing some great things with EVs.
Either way, its a good thing because not being brand loyal allows me to just buy what I like and not feel like I constantly need to defend my brand. Its quite freeing to realize that there are many cars out there that can be enjoyed and worth owning and that every car out there is a piece of junk in its own way.

I'm not so much brand loyal as I am model loyal.

I have to remove cameras from my smart phones if I'm to take the phone to work in a secure area. I found an LG that was easy to disassemble. I'm hard on phones so have replaced that particular model several times, and actively sought it out when it was less available.

I liked Saturn S-series but understand everything else sold under that brand is a joke. No thanks.

The only tire brand loyalty has been to Champiro Ice Pros, but because DTD has them on sale every Labor Day or thereabouts. I know how they handle in winter, "good enough", even though there are better snow tires out there.

For some things yes. Not particularly cars or anything though but something like phones and computers yes Apple only and nothing else due to past bad experience with other brands. Now brand bias yes to many automakers because they put stupid stuff on cars or make them look bad or just make bad cars in general. I used to be brand bias to Subaru and Mitsubishi before I started working on more of them now that I do Subaru everyday as a Subaru dealer tech at a dealership that sells 10 major brands I would not own anything new besides a Subaru or Mitsubishi because they look good and are easy to work on and most aren’t filled with unnecessary stuff. They do have their issues yes any brand does but nothing like what I have dealt with in other brands.

My dad used to be brand bias on tires he would only buy Michelin but now he will buy just about anything that is a major brand except Goodyear and their tire brands that they make and I’ll pass on them too from what I know. He is really liking his Pirelli P4 that we put on his Camry back in 2018.

Used to be very brand loyal, but then I realized that brand loyalty only serves one party - and its not me. Everyone make good stuff and bad stuff and it all costs more than I want to pay to repair, soooo..... Might as well go with whichever manu has what I deem to be the best (value, performance, cost, etc)

I will purchase any brand that meets what I am looking for, foreign or domestic. So with regard to just about anything, I try to research what works.

However, the quality and availability of Mobil 1 has served me very well. So I’ve not strayed too far from M1. From my turbocharged racing days to more pedestrian engines. walmart offers it everywhere and at a good price. although I did find a Castrol oil that solved a particular problem.

I’m not brand loyal, but I will avoid brands that have given me trouble in the past.

Although for cell phones/tablets, I’ll only buy apple because they just work, and I’ve been burned by others. I’m probably being pigheaded on that but I don’t have time to screw these things up anymore.

So, not exactly brand loyal, but I like things that work.

A few products/brands I’ve had good luck with.

Toyota
Yeti
Giant Bikes
Garmin
Red Wing
Apple
Makers Mark
Captain Morgan
Carhartt
Michelin
Shell
Streamlight
Weber

I'm brand biased, but not brand loyal. For instance, I've driven Toyotas almost my whole adult life, but the only Toyota product I have now is a used hoopty Scion. I discovered that Mazda makes cars that are just as good and wasn't leveraging their reliability reputation to pump up the price. Plus, I prefer my Japanese cars to be actually made in Japan if at all possible.

I'm loyal to iOS and MacOS but I would ditch Apple hardware in a hot minute if someone sold clones. Apple charges at least 2X what other makers charge for equivalent specs, but all my apps and software run on Apple so I'm left to pay the Steve Jobs tax.

I lean toward brands I've had good luck with in the past but I'll give something else a try if I hear good things and the price is right.

There are several brands that do not make a single vehicle I would own- Buick, GMC, and Lincoln off the top of my head, There are several that only make one or two cars I'd consider; Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, and Toyota to name a few. I tend to gravitate towards BMWs, Minis, and Wranglers because I'm extremely familiar with them and I know where the bodies are buried. That said, on my hunt to replace the 2er I've looked at the Giulia TI Sport, Mustang Mach 1, and Stinger GTS.

Dodge, Napa, and Valvoline were my only go tobrands for automotive products. A company issued Camry, and Altimas two of my friends took over 300k miles with no work changed my mind. I’ve now had 2 Altimas, a Rouge, and 2 Camrys in my personal Fleet.

Also, watching company cars and trucks get under maintained, yet run over 150k miles mostly trouble free opened my eyes to my overly expensive maintenance schedules.

I’m a clean freak with my cars, but have a friend who lives on gravel and lets the rain wash his cars, unless going to a special event. His Tacoma and Honda Odysee both had no rust and 200 k miles where my newer Dodge and Chevy (company truck) was rusting like mad.

Age helps too. Tribalism is for children….
