Brakes for Jeep Cherokee

So time for pads and rotors. On Amazon I see Raybestos rotors for $28 each and Bosch brake pads for $25. Good enough?

Or what's better?

I've used those on 2 different minivans. Worked well.

Yeah just a light for temperature and no tach. I had a real temp gauge put in a couple months ago though.

I'm usually not a fan of drilled/slotted rotors but for this application they work well. The Cherokee XJ brakes are undersized in my opinion and heat up quick. The slotted rotors help cut down heat a bit and definitely reduce brake fade. Slotted rotors also seem to help with the early WJs that warped rotors quickly as well.

It photographs better than it is in person, but generally it is in great shape.

Paint is starting to peel in some spots and my grandpa spilled coffee all over inside. Need to have the headliner redone, it's sagging. I'll be restoring it.

That pit is a lot bigger in person. It was mined in the 90s. It is about to go back into production next year, a deep tunnel underground.

He has a lease-option with a Canadian company and hopefully it will sell next year. Our family has had the property since the 1930s. (BLM land, we own the mineral rights). The company bought some land and is setting up the mill-site.

My last name is Fancher, hence "Fancher Mine". I can't find any pictures of the new hole they dug. There's a security guard out there 24/7, there's 3 of them on a rotating shift. The big red hill is a tailings pile.

I have a 1998 5.9 Grand Cherokee, so I'm familiar with the lackluster brakes these Jeeps have LOL

I did do cross drilled/slotted rotors from BrakeMotive off eBay along with Raybestos hybrid pads that seemed to improve braking ability.

I was curious about the Bosch pads. Bosch has been very hit or miss for me as a brand. Great oxygen sensors, terrible windshield wipers.

Based on the pictures, the old pads looked like Wagner ThermoQuiets since there is a raised section on the backing plate.

Akebono currently owns the aftermarket division of Bosch braking. Worldpac sells a lot of Bosch and Akebono brake parts now.

It was owned by the state of Arizona from 1996-2007 from 0 miles to 100,400 miles. So however they maintained it. My grandfather never put brakes on it before.

That's interesting news to hear. Akebono is top-tier in braking as far as I know.

Nice Cherokee. I have a 96 Country. I have Napa Premium stuff up front, so far so good. Semi-metallic pads.
