So my daughter will be home for Thanksgiving and she says her brakes are making noise. I will check them out when she gets here but if I have to get pads they’ll have to come from Autozone, Advance, or NAPA. Any recommendations from these three for a 2007 Honda Civic? Thanks.

Unless someone has tried different flavors of modern pad formulas in the last few years on different vehicles, opinions are moot. See if you can buy online to use a discount code and pick up in store 15 minutes later.
Wagner Thermoquiet should work fine. The best in-stock house brands such as Duralast Max should also work fine. Napa improved their house brand brake pad formulations a year or two ago and I'm assuming they have something that works fine, too.

Advance should have Wagner Thmermoquiet or Akebono ProACT. Both are good choices.

Get the premium rotors they offer. The ones with the black coating to deter rust.

I recently did AAP Platinum pads and standard rotors (frontlines weren't available) on my Impala with the TRT30 discount code and I couldn't be happier with the results. Everything went together great, new anti rattle clips too. Brakes are smooth and fairly low dust versus the OEM pads I took off.

Akebono ProACT are great, but do not come with brake hardware. I'd always install brake hardware.

For rotors I don't see a difference so just the cheapest ones are fine. The lower tier house brands usually suck for pads though. I put some Napa Proformer ceramic pads for my Ford Ranger and they are pretty much done after 40,000 kms. In comparison, the OEM pads, or Centric, or Wagner branded pads I've used lasted atleast 80,000km+ easily.

Some of the premium rotors have a coating on the hat to help deter rust.

Advance - Carquest Wearever Platinum Professional Ceramic. These will be in stock at your local store. They're FF rated, have a burnishing strip on the pad for break-in, and include all hardware/grease. Use the coupon code (purchase online, pick-up at store) and they're a very good deal.

The Wagner Thermoquiets I have on the rear of my car are garbage... I got them at the exact same team as the front Akebono Performance street GG rated brake pads. The Akebono pads have about 50% of the pad left. The Thermoquiets have less than 20% left. Needless to say I will not be buying Wagner Thermoquiets again.
I would go with Akebono Proact ceramics or the Carquest Platinum FF rated pads.

My vote is for Advanced. But, don't overlook Amazon if you have Prime. If you have time, look at Rock Auto.

I have had good luck with Duralast max pads. Have them on the Equinox and Malibu now and both seem to work well. They are also lifetime warranty so free replacement when they wear down.

I am about to put on some Napa premium pads and coated rotors on the Trailblazer. Originals lasted 200K km. I will see how these end up.

There's a local shop here that refers to Thermoquiets as "Thermosqeaks" and will not install them, period.

I had a set on a previous truck and didn't really have any complaints. No noise or anything, but that truck was very light and I sold it before I had very many miles on the Thermoquiets. I put a set on my 2002 Ranger a while back and burned through them in 27K miles. I was towing a lot then, but it still seemed quick. They just flat wore out...no squeaking until the friction material was about gone. No other issues.

"Ultra-premium/Gold/Platinum" type store brands are usually pretty good in my experience. At work, when buying for the used cars, I go for either NAPA Ultra Premium or Adaptive One because otherwise there is a good chance the car will come back for brake noise or a similar complaint. The return rate for cars with cheapo pads was horrible, and I don't even offer them as an option anymore. I have Adaptive Ones on my 2002 Ranger now and have been happy with them. NO noise, stops as good as it ever has.

I do buy some Akebono pads for Japanese used cars at work and have never had an issue with them.

In short...buy a premium pad, but probably not Thermoquiets.
