Brake pad recommendation // FL5 Civic Type R

It's almost time for me to replace my front brake pads on my 23 Civic Type R. I'm looking for recommendations for replacement pads for the front Brembo brakes. I use the car mostly on weekends and enjoy ripping up some twistys from time to time. I've done the AI thing to see what it would spit out and 1 option was mentioned on all three inquiries. Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake pads. Any and all informed recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

what brakes are on your sons GR86 does he have the optional brembo brakes?

He does not. He went with the standard package.

Will he swap out the stock ceramic pads for something more performance?

I like Akebono for daily driver. If you need it for a trailer queen that goes to the track look at what EBC has to offer.

Ebc and ATE are top choices. Maybe replace the fluid while your at it.

I’d probably go Hawk Ceramic or Powerstop Z23 or Z26 to keep the dust down but maintain stopping power. Akebono doesn’t have the bite for sporty driving.

I thought Akebono had more aggressive street/track pads?

They might, I’ve only used their Euro ultra premium.

I'm late to the party but I'll add this anyway. My best friend has a pristine, low mileage, garage queen Type R. He got tired of the dust from the OEM pads and replaced then with Akebonos. He said the Akebonos have very little bite compared to OEM.

If it is only weekend are you willing to tolerate cold weather squeal? If so you can get higher temperature brake pads so you can eventually track this car.

If not just get the highest friction one you are willing to tolerate chewing up rotors and brake dust for. I like Hawk / Bendix Ultimate HPS, great bite but dust like crazy and chew through rotor very quickly.
