Brake flush on '18 VW Atlas

I'll be doing brake flush on my Golf (in signature) next month and need advice please.
Here's what the manual says, and 2 recommendations from Rock Auto.
Either one would be ok?

A couple of years ago, the VW branded brake fluid specs exactly matched those of the Pentosin Dot 4 LV.

Let's get real for a second.

How would the tech know? His two criteria for "it doesn't make a difference" are 1: the fluid comes out clean and 2: the customer doesn't come back with an issue.

Do the job the way the data says to do the job.

Charles "the humble mechanic" is quite knowledgeable when I reached out to him with this v. question when doing my Golf last year b/c of the conflicting info I was seeing, but what does he know. The guys from New German Performance that bled/flushed my car at VIR when they did some brake work at a track weekend did it furthest to closest as well. I'd say your off-base w/r to what a trained VAG technician does and doesn't know.

People just do what they were taught first and instinctively feel that it is therefore "best."

Of a performance shop, The Humble Mechanic, and VW, I'm willing to bet that only one has a measured reason for doing their brake flushes the way they do.

I'll always follow tech data. It's there for a reason. Maybe there's a difference, maybe not. But it won't save you any time to bleed the brakes contrary to the tech data and as The Critic pointed out, it may save you time and fluid.

I won't disagree with you, the fluid volume is a valid point for sure.

Flushed it out with 2L of the ATE SL.6. No change, brakes work well, some squeaking still. Will see if it sorts itself out over time.

Give it a few weeks. Worse case, buy some of the Toyota or Honda DOT3 and use that for a short while. Given the past literature about the Toyota/Honda fluids, I am fairly certain that they contain an above-average quantity of lubricants.

I'm sure it will back-off, just strange that the fluid did that!
