box stores lowering quality of life

Bought some Permatex RTV at wally's and then some of the same color at an auto parts store.

The wally's (blue) stuff I can swear is a different/inferior part number. It aggressively sticks to my fingers but is shy about sticking to metal. Its viscosity leaves something to be desired: it's kind of like childrens' toothpaste.

The parts store RTV goes on like a dream by comparison. I will have to get part #s to make sure this isn't all in my head.

Recently installed a lockset bought at HD. Forget where it's made, but it was cheap and made in Mexico. Feels kind of flimsy, but it does its job. Much better made than the non-locking set it replaced.

Does a lifetime warranty on junk mean anything?

Exactly!!!

This is the problem with their water heaters (HD). If it leaks on you and you need a new one. 9 times out of 10, the company will not be their supplier anymore and so you're SOL.

What a joke.
