Wait a min, you are in Canada, I would go with a 0W30 synthetic due to the climate and look at the owner's manual, cannot believe it says every 3 months under normal conditions!
Yes, there are two service schedules, severe and regular, all Nissans specify a 3750 miles or 3 month oci for the severe schedule and according to the severe conditions outlined I think most Nissan vehicles in Canada would fall under that. Otherwise the normal schedule is 7500 miles or 6 months.
Oh, and I did buy the 5 quart jugs of VWB 5W30 dino from Walmart for 5 bucks a jug. I was able to grab 10 jugs for a mere 50 bucks plus tax. The filer is Purolator Classic, also from Walmart and sells for $4.88. So my oil change costs me about 10 bucks total. Which is pretty good. First oil change was free at the dealer. I forgo to use the oem filter because it's made by fram and has the dreaded cardboard end caps. I think Purolator Classic should do fine for a 6000 km oci.

Nissan has a 3 month severe service interval, actually. As far as 0w-30, it has its place, but is far from necessary. I'm not using a 0w-XX, and it's been hovering around that -22 F mark for a week.

That will do you absolutely fine. I prefer the Bosch Premium from Walmart's selection, but that's just me. There's nothing wrong with the Purolator Classic at all. Actually, I don't think the local Walmarts here actually had the Purolator Classic in the part number I needed anyhow.
