Bought a new Tundra

Really? What were you thinking?

I know and I get it. Long story short, I am a longtime Toyota owner and put 335k on my frst new Toyota pickup which I bought in '88 and paid $8800 for.

I have followed the bearing failure story of the V35 engine pretty closely and the Car Care Nut on YT has some good stuff but in the end I felt comfortable enough with Toyota's history and track record to buy a new 3rd gen Tundra with a build date of 6/24.

I seriously considered a Ford F150 and I looked at the other options too. This is what I decided to go with and feel free to flame away and here is a picture of my new SR5 4x4 Tundra.

I would of picked the Tundra over any other truck on the market, the issue doesn't seem too wide-spread and chances are if you do have a failure it will be pretty soon and under warranty anyway.

Unless it is a 5.0 F150 there is zero chance I would buy one, Ford does not have a good track record even with their ecoboosts with timing chains, cam phasers, etc.

That's a great color. Both of my 4Runners are red, one is Salsa Red and the other Barcelona Red Metallic

I really really like that red and I'm not a big red guy when it comes to car paints. I love that glossy metallic red. Most metallic reds are too dark to look good in my eyes but not dark enough to be the dark metallic cherry which is just beautiful, and red is a color where having extra gloss clear just really makes it shine. I either like bright or very dark red both in metallic and super extra glossy with no in between. Red and blue are colors I'm super particular with. I'm guessing this is the recently updated one that shouldn't have any machining issues which sadly happens on new generations.

That's a nice package going with the SX. Deletes the badges except the rear 4x4 one which is blacked out, metallic grey wheels. First year you can get the SX package in red. Last year it was four colors, silver, white, grey and black.

I remember when Ford had the 6.0 diesel. The information was everywhere that they had major issues. I always wondered why customers didn’t just quit buying them. I see Toyota customers make similar choices.

Love the color. Word on the street is that trucks affected by the recall will be receiving a long block, which is a first for Toyota.

I'll make the assumption that your question is sincere and not sarcastic.

Many of the bearing failures with the early versions of this engine occurred well after the first oil change. I plan to change it at 5000 miles and to let my local dealer do the 10,000 mile scheduled change.

The window sticker was 54.5 and I paid 50. I love it so far but 125 miles isn't much more than a test drive. I use the fuelly app to track mileage but the digital readout says 18.6 mpg so far.

It's really really early. I will provide more feedback as I accumulate some miles.
