Picked up a new 2026 Silverado RST Z71 Saturday. 5.3/10L80, Bose, leather, pretty fully loaded except sunroof. Which I’m fine with. I felt like the Tahoe at times had a funky odor from potential leaks. Even has Adaptive Cruise Control. Color is White Sands with the Dark Essentials package. Love the color.

Traded in the 2024 Tahoe and did super well on trade-in. With the rebates and incentives going on and some good old fashioned negotiation, it all turned out to be a very good transaction. No dealer near me (Buffalo area) wanted to do any negotiating. Most would get very ignorant with me for going back and forth. Drove to Endicott NY for this one. This dealer F&I guy even said to me “you don’t want nothing extra right”… spot on hoss.

Don’t have a ton of pictures yet but here’s a few. Of course it’ll receive the same care and maintenance as the Tahoe. I feel like the cabin is much more roomy and comfortable than the Tahoe. What I do like a whole lot more is no IRS. It would consistently get “busy” over the crummy southern tier NY roads and was not confidence inspiring in Winter even with dedicated snows. Plus Tahoe had no locking rear differential G80. This does and that makes a whole lot of difference around here in the slop.

This week we’ll get a Borla or Corsa ordered, I’ll swap my Range DFM disabler on, my J&L catch can and most likely an early oil change with my go-to M1 FS 0W-40 and a PG made Napa Gold.

Typical GM appointments and features. Very nice truck. Last year for the 5.3, RST trim and T1X 1/2 ton… unless the new body is a continuation of the same… not sure.

So skid plates and off road package? Is the RST sportier?
Yeah, skid plates, Rancho shocks I guess and G80 rear locker. High capacity air cleaner. The RST is their sport truck. Next step up is LT Trail Boss, essentially 4-6k more for a 2” lift.

I think the RST sells well but from my dealings the Trail Boss is the model everyone wants and no dealer wants to budge from MSRP with. Again I think the RST sells well too. RST has body color bumpers where as TB is a unique off-road inspired front end.

Don’t really need that. My off road will be dirt roads in farm country and taking the ATV to a launch place.
Get dat red Lubegard and NextGen valve body ready
I guess this has the (allegedly good) gen 3 valve body. Let’s hope! I serviced my Tahoe early and that with a gen 2 always shifted excellent.

Nice looking truck. The 5.3 is the only v8 I'd get. If those rebates, incentives, and higher trade in value wouldn't have been there later in the year when buying the new 27 making you pay much more then it's smart to buy the 26 even if the msrp cuts haven't come for the current ones yet but will once the 27 hits the lots. The new models almost never have rebates or incentives and are likely to get marked up with scamdendums. Did you remove the nice rims and tires you put on the tahoe or did you sell the factory ones and couldn't put those back on.

I still don't get why gm doesn't out a xx.x volt figure on the pickups like they do with the escalade which is nice because that 9-19 thing is nonsense. If I remember dividing the increments on the volt gauge on my old trucks it's something like .625v or something for each of the indexes which is silly.

Also i thought the oil pressure readings that went to 120 were for the diesel and 80 was for the gas engines. Still rude of them to not give a precise figure but a vague bar. I like that I get an actual number for the oil pressure and volts on the escalade.

They probably did the KIS thing where 14 volts is center of gauge ie. "normal" and called it a day.

Nice color. I read the 2027 Silverado is coming with bigger V8's and the 2.7L is coming with the 10 speed automatic. We know the current 5.3 is proven, the 5.7 that replaces it will need to prove itself.

My brother got a new Silverado last year (2025 W/T with the 2.7L four cylinder and 4WD

I have a few L3B trucks. Switched them all over to M1 0w/40 ESP to possibly ward off valvetrain issues.... About the only issue this platform has.
It REALLY quieted down the whole engine. ZERO hit in fuel economy.

I think the new engines will be good. Seems the redesigns have been going well for them. The 2.7 is great, the 6.6 gas is good, I have high hopes for the next gen small blocks.

They know they need to keep the high margin stuff rolling out and full size trucks and SUVs are what will keep them afloat until they end up profitable on EVs in 5-10 years.

Nice truck.

Borla sound great and nicely welded / constructed.
My son has black chrome tips on Borla cat back system for 5.0 Mustang.
