Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

I placed an order on RockAuto and some of my parts came in. I got a new Denso air filter, some NGK Laser Iridium plugs, and a pack of Dorman air filter housing screws.

I tackled the spark plugs first. The old ones really didn’t look too bad. They were Densos which I was happy to see. Just a bit of oil fouling on them but relatively good condition.

I swapped the air filter next. The car had a nasty K&N filter in it. I despise those things. You can see how oily it made the inside of the intake hose. I’m sure the throttle body needs cleaned because of it, but we’ll do that when I get the new intake hose. For now, I feel much better knowing there is a clean paper air filter in the car.

If you followed the Accord thread you might recall that mismatched and incorrect hardware is one of my biggest OCD peeves. The air filter housing box had 2 incorrect screws on it and one that was really rusty, so I used the correct Dorman replacements to address that.

I also swapped some of the incorrect worm-screw clamps that were on the power steering hoses for the proper constant-tension clamps. I grabbed a few at the junkyard the other day. I still have one more to replace but I didn’t have the right one, so that’ll have to wait till the next junkyard run.

I would’ve left the worm clamps. Once an older hose has seen a work clamp, it may not seal again with a constant tension clamp.
