Well guys I could not get the daily driver 1992 Toyota Paseo to die, I will give it away to a needy Soldier. I bit the bullet and bought a 2012 Versa Sedan 1.6L manual everything. Best of all so far is no car payments. 11,770 + TTL. Any tips and advise is welcome.

Nice! I like the lins of the new versa too. The old one never seemed to have enough front legroom, how is the new one?

Lots of "bang for the buck" there.

Of course, we'll need a report when you get to know it a little better.

You got lucky to find a strippo.Seems dealers only keep $14K models with auto trans and the whole bit.I think the Versa is a great deal if bought low end,the sedan looks a million times better than the aged hatchback. You did good.

My daughter-in-law has a 2007 Versa, it has been a great car. I am always amazed on how much rear seat space it has. She has had no problems with it and is replacing the original tires at 105,000 miles.

A guy I work with got one. The dealer was trying to sell him the more expensive model, didn't even mention this one. I told him if he wants the lower priced car to go back and tell them what you want. They got it for him and he loves it. My comment is that you sit up high in them, very high up for such a small car. He got a center arm rest online for I think about $125. Good luck with it, I like Nissan products.

Cool! Were you able to find a stick shift? They are apparently going auto only soon if not already.

Congrats on the new car. I have twin friends that are 6 ft 4 and 350 lbs+ and they ride around in a 2009 hatchback model. That car has tons of rear leg room. They can both sit in front with the seats way back and I can fit in the back with lots of room to spare. He bought his when they had cash for clunkers and loves the car. Good car.

Great choice! It should provide you many years of trouble free service.

Thanks everyone, so far (217 mi) so good. I will try to keep track of MPG as it wears in.

JHZR2, the forward leg room is great, its just the side of my leg that rides on the center console's edge.

Schuykill, yeah the Versa seriously need an arm rest. Thanks, I will have to look for one.

eljefino, I built it online then received an exact match when I searched local inventory. Previously three different dealers tried to sell me an automatic with all the bells and whistles. They would tell they had one in stock only to show up be told "we don't have what you looking for exactly but have this Versa with Navigation, CVT, alloy wheels, spoiler, accent lighting, Etc......for only 19,200." The last one that did this to me in February after a 45 mile drive, almost received a small lesson on SERE training, the part no one likes.

Now that's the way to buy an economy car! I think the new look on the 2012 sedans is a HUGE step up in looks. Nice car! Congrats!

I looked at one yesterday and the least expensive one on the lot was $14k msrp and included some PAINTED mudguards. Nice touch. Maybe get those from the dealer as an accessory.

Here is the Versa, its related to the GT-R. Lots of shared parts, emblems, some light bulbs, fuses and...um.......so yeah it fast.

Nice going. I have the 6 speed hatch 2012. I bought it new in Dec of 2011 and no real issues with it. I have the 1.8 but wish they had the 1.6 available in the hatchs but still keep the 6 speed. Oh well. I had some valvetrain noise with QS Q power 5w30 but quieted down with M1. How's the 0w30 working out for you?

I did not notice any MPG difference with the 0w-30. One thing that is new to me is hearing what it think is the timing chain make some noise at idle. Perhaps it has a variable displacement oil pump and has very low pressure at idle, therefore the chain tensioner it not applying enough pressure on the chain to keep it from slapping around. It gets quiet at part throttle. Who knows?

I thought mine had an exhaust leak shortly after I got it because I was hearing a ticking that sounded like exhaust but I think it just has a noisier valvetrain. I have no engine cover stock and when I put M1 in it the ticking diminishing greatly where I don't notice it. My last fillup was 32 mpg and I can't complain with that.

Hello, My friend's daughter bought a new 2011 Versa and loves it so far. I don't know anything else. Wish I did. Good luck with yours. Waiting for you mileage data. Kira
