Hi Guys,

For a change, I picked up 0w40 Castrol

3 bottles

One was leaking, 2nd had foil removed !? ( it was stuck at the top of cap )

Is this normal ?

Oil looks fresh, but I’m worried someone dumped it…
Never had this with M1 seals are glued hard

Thx

The caps come from the packaging manufacturer with the foil already inside. On the filling line, the caps are screwed onto the bottles by machine, to a specified torque. The bottles then pass through an "induction tunnel" where an electric charge is applied to the cap area. The charge causes the foil to heat up which causes it to actually "weld" itself to the edge of the bottle opening. If the charge isn't adequate, or isn't applied long enough, the foil may not melt the plastic. That can result in the foil remaining inside the cap. It might be a reason for concern with a food or pharmaceutical product, but I wouldn't give it a second thought with motor oil.

I worked for a company that sold dietary supplements and visited several manufacturers during that time.
