I just went through a couple of Wallyworlds and Pep Boys looking for oil and filters for my summer weight changes. I found both API rated SL & SM grades intermixed for some oil brands at these stores. I could not find the SM rating in the 20w-50 grade I use for one of my rides, but I could find it in the more common 10s-30 grade. My theory is those grades don't sell very well, so that weight is older stock.

Am I the only guy around still using the heaviest weight in the summer for better protection? That's completely contrary to the makers use of the lightest weights. Who's right?

I'm still running 20w-50 in my old pickup. It's the only oil that it won't drink and the oil pressure stays up too

Ok, I'm a bit jealous that you HAVE a Meijer's nearby!

Handy store. I think you just miss them by one state. They recently had some oil clearances to rival the AutoZone clearances, Pennzoil SL Synthetic for $2 and Citgo Ultralife for $0.80.
