I have a boat motor I haven't started in about 6 years without the fogging oil that I have read about on here lately. My question is what should I do with it before attempting a start. The additives I have on hand are FP/LC. Any help would be appreciated so I don't damage anything.

Thanks,
Scott

Sorry I guess that would have helped a bit...it is a 1978 Johnson 35hp outboard. It has been sitting out in the weather of North Dakota for all that time.

First thing to do is see if it will turn over.
Remove the spark plugs and try to turn it by hand. If that doesn't work put 3-4 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders and leave it sit
for 24 hrs then try to turn it over again. Once
the engine is freed up spin it over to see if you
are getting spark to the plugs. Once you cross that bridge you may go and get some fresh fuel
(89 octane alcohol free gas if you can mixed
with TCW-3 Oil) Put he engine in a barrel or garbadge can and see it if will start. Hopefully
there was not any old gas left in the carbs to
gum them up. if it starts take quick note if it
is pumping any water through the cooling system.
You should see water from the *** hole and exhaust relief ports in the back. If no water flows within 1 minute shut it down. Chances are
the impeller is junk anyway so don't be alarmed if it's not pumping water. Next would be to change the impller anyway as it will not be reliable after siting for so long. Change the
lower unit lube and make sure there wasn't any
water in it. Lube any grease fittings, throw in
a fresh set of plugs, change any fuel filters
and you should be good to go.
Snotty: Don't be suprized if the carbs need
rebuilt or if it's froze up as it looks like it
was not stored properly.. Good Luck
