I'm almost always by myself when launching so I tie the bow rope to the truck and back down until the boat floats off the trailer, then pull forward out from under it. I never get out until the boat is floating free. If it's steep I do it in 4wd.
Of course my boat is aluminum. Some of these really heavy fiberglass boats may handle quite differently.
