Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Ford, Toyota, Honda and Nissan vehicles.

2011 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350
2011 Ford E-350, E-450 Cutaway Chassis
Vehicles affected: 298
On certain vehicles, the windshield could contain air particles trapped between the glass layers. As a result, the windshield may develop air bubbles when exposed to high temperatures, such as when it is parked in the sun with the windows closed in ambient temperatures greater than 26C. The air bubbles will develop gradually over time. Should the bubbles develop, Ford will replace the windshield at no charge up to 12 months or 20,000 km from the first date of vehicle registration.

2011-2012 Toyota Sienna
Vehicles affected: 20,000
On certain vehicles, the combined weight of occupants and cargo displayed on the Tire and Loading Information label does not meet the requirements of the label’s standard, and as such, the vehicle could be unwittingly overloaded. Dealers will install an updated information label on the vehicle and in the owner’s manual.

2001-2002 Acura EL
2002-2003 Acura TL
2001-2002 Honda Accord
2001-2002 Honda Civic
2002 Honda CR-V
2002-2003 Honda Odyssey
Vehicles affected: 26,964
On certain vehicles, the driver’s airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure, which may cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments through the airbag cushion material. Dealers will replace the airbag inflator.

2010-2011 Nissan Sentra
Vehicles affected: 3,227
On certain vehicles, the zinc coating applied to the positive battery terminal stud bolt during manufacturing may be too thick. This could result in a voltage drop that may cause difficulty starting the engine, and could also damage the Engine Control Module (ECM), which could cause the engine to stall. Dealers will replace the battery terminal.

2010-2011 Ford Fusion
Vehicles affected: 8,220
On certain vehicles with 17-inch steel wheels, whether factory installed or sold as accessory replacement parts, may experience a reduction in wheel stud clamp load which can cause wheel stud failure, possibly resulting in the wheel separating from the vehicle. Dealers will replace the lug nuts on all four wheels, and will also inspect the rear brake rotors and replace them if necessary.

2011 Ford F-150
2012 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550
Vehicles affected: 2,765
On certain vehicles, the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch may have been incorrectly manufactured and could fail. This would allow the transmission gearshift lever to be moved out of the Park position without depressing the brake pedal. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the BTSI switch.

How do they know the exact amount of vehicles affected? In other words how do they know 3,227 Sentra's have too much zinc coating on the terminals?

Thanks for the info.

My guess is the manufacturer knows which vehicle VIN #s were on the assembly line when the defective parts were installed. Add up the VIN # and they know how many vehicles are affected.

For many recalls (if you see the actual recall notice) there is usuall a range of VIN #s that are affected (same situation for TSBs - sometimes only apply to certain VIN numbers before an improved or non defective part was introduced to vehicles with later VINs)

exactly what rcy said. Have you ever see the shows on TV where they have assembly plants all the scan guns? They record which part goes into which car based on the lot number from the parts vendor. Usually a recall will come from the vendor when their QC finds a fault in a testing unit.
