i might go stock up on some GC, and AZ has a deal that includes K&N oil filters. I noticed K&N has a part HP-7007 for the BMW motors and looks just like the Mann filters I've been using. Has anyone experienced any issues with the K&N oil filters?

I should mention, I'm doing 7500mile OCI with syntec 0w30 (GC) or Mobil1 0w-40. So, I would like the oil filter to do a good job for at least 7500 miles.

Please type "K&N Air Filter" in the search section with the quotes and choose 5 years in the drop down list. I have personally viewed and/or contributed to several different K&N air filter threads here in the past 7 days. There is some good information you'll find on them.

The search function here is a little buggy. I have the best results using quotes in every query.

I haven't used it personally, but thanks for pointing it out. I didn't realize that K&N made cartridge filters. I'm sure they're fine.

When is the AZ/GC special starting? Is it this weekend?

Except that he asked about an oil filter. :)

And the [censored] thing is that this filter costs $19.99 at AZ while the $29.99 GC special at AZ only covers filters that cost up to $14.99, which means you will end up paying the difference.

For $5 you can almost buy an equivalent OEM Mann filter on line.

Also, this K&N filter seems to be a special-order item.

Just so sick of "are K&N air filters a good filter?" threads.

Saturn_fan: thanks for the welcome! I've actually been lurking around for some time...

Quattro Pete: thanks for pointing out the price issue. i can't believe they think their oil filter is worth $20!?!?! the cartridge is less material than the canisters that cost less... i swear they are jacking up the MSRP only because "BMW" is associated with it...

well, K&N also has a HP-2009 part that fits my Toyota motor. i may just end up getting that with the Syntec deal as it's listed as $11.99, within the $14.99.

So, K&N oil filters are pretty good?

I have been using K&N for years now on multiple vehicles, OCIs up to 12,000 miles and normally 7500 or so. They wil go the distance IMo if you want flow they are the best out there.

If you think K&N HP-7007 for your BMW is expensive, take a look at HP-7004 for MB E430, it is priced at $25.99 at Autozone.

K&N is surely overprice their cartridge filter for Euro cars. I can buy Mann cartridge filter for the same car for less than $10 online. I see no reason to pay inflated price for re-badged filter.
