Hi, I have been having a strange problem with my brake lights for the past few days. I have a 2015 Honda accord. The running lights work just fine, however when I press the brakes, one light turns off. I checked the bulbs, switched the sockets (problem shifts to the other side), everything works. Bulbs are factory standard halogen.

I have called my local dealership and have an appointment however the earliest they can get me in is mid next week. Any ideas?

There's probably a short circuit somewhere or a bad bulb causing a short. My guess would be assembly error or defective bulb. Keep us posted as to what the problem actually is. I (and a lot of us here) like to troubleshoot/guess at automotive issues and see if we're right.

No kidding.... Did you read his post?

If you switched sockets, and the problem followed the socket, that sounds like it...and the dealer needs until the middle of next week to correct that? Should be an easy overnight part if they don't have it in stock.

Is there another dealer in your area?

It's got a bad ground, which could either be in the wiring or the light assy itself. That's what the warranty's for, right?

There ya go! Did you closely inspect the filament inside the bulb and socket for anything obvious?

My service appointment was scheduled for this Friday which was a bit too long to wait without trying something. I inspected the bulbs, all filaments looked good. Changing the bulbs with new ones and the brakes work!

I am glad that my lights work however 2 month old bulbs shouldn't fail. If another bulb goes prematurely ill take it to the dealer and have them look over the electrical system. Thanks for the help!
