Pennzoil Platinum 0W20, 0W30 and 5W40 are available only online, when do you have these grades in retail stores such as Pep Boys, Autozone, Kragen, Walmart ... ?

When you do release an Ultra 0W-20 will it meet the Toyota and Honda requirement for a low viscosity oil? i.e., a low 40C viscosity spec' significantly under 40cSt.

Would you consider bring out 30wt version of Ultra that meets ACEA A3 standards (HT/HS of at least 3.5) for those of us with more sporting, or high performance engines? I think that is what everyone is trying to imply with their HT/HS questions. WRX's, Evos, RSX's etc. A competitor to Castrol 0W30 and Red Line 5W30.

If Pennzoil Ultra is so good why does it have to be changed every four months or 4K miles in order to make a lubricant related claim. Any oil can go 4K. Don't you have more faith in the product?

I don't have any questions to add. But, I'd like to thank you guys and gals for talking directly to us. We know we're a relatively small community, so it means a lot to us! Thanks!

I think a very big question on here is the drain time, I'm very interested in this question as well as Ultra is in price competition with extended drain oils, so regardless of how it's being marketed in the real consumer world it's being compared by end users to the Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Castrol Edge extended drain oils. I would like more information on this like many others here.

The super clean piston picture from ultra verses current standard. I would like more info on the dirty verses clean piston, are the pistons from the same mileage, or hours would be even more of a comparison between engines ? I would like more specific information as to the piston comparison information such as oil used for both (if you do not want to give brand name please list the oil specifications used in current "dirty piston"). Heat, fuel used, hours test ran each piston, load on piston, the complete test in a easy to understand breakdown would be awesome.

+3 I also would like to know if there's going to be a 0W-20 Pennzoil Ultra.

Just to reiterate, selling a high performance oil like Ultra, that has a Tbn of 13, and having customers drain the oil every 4,000 miles is a waste. Is there anyway Pennzoil can suggest longer drain intervals once you are out of the warranty period? 4,000 mile drain intervals are a thing of the past. In fact most OEM drain intervals are somewhere around 5-7,500 on average now. So for consumers to maximize the value of this product, longer drains are what some of us are looking for. Thanks again for taking the time to answer some of these questions. We do appreciate it.

Pennzoil has it's appeal with it's new Ultra and Platinum lines....but yea, I'm surprised too, they still have their "Limited Lifetime Warranty" on their site, but it's extremely strict. You must have documented LOF change every 4000 miles, have the emissions system inspected "as per manufacturer recommendations" (i.e.: per the manual) - that's not bad....but 4k changes...and the 4k seems to apply per the Conventional, the Platinum, and the Ultra.....and if I read the warranty right, you also have to have the engine air filter "replaced" at the time of the oil change.....changing an air filter every 4k seems a bit redundant :)

I'm hoping maybe down the road they will change it, have different Warranties per EACH oil.....rather than a "blanket" warranty across all 3 oil products...

I know my dealer follows their 4k oil changes (the rare oddity that I stop in for an oil change....lol) but they don't change the air filter every 4k...so if they are "following the 4k" to keep the vehicle under's Pennzoil's warranty, they are breaking it by not serving/changing the air filter :P

From their QnA: I use synthetic motor oil; am I still required to change my oil as often as every 4000 miles or 4 months? A: Yes, one of the main factors of motor oil is to remove contaminants...... and it goes on to say, yes, to keep the warranty valid you must change every 4k/4mos

They also have "stricter" severe driving situations than my vehicle owner's manual has....hehehe.

Almost makes it sound as if they "trust" their product, but don't trust it enough for extended fills...hehe...then again, we all know how these "warranties" work, there's always a loop hole somewhere...

Though, it appears they HAVE updated it since I last read the warranty page.

The warranty now mentioned Pennzoil Ultra:
Up to 15 years/500,000 miles if exclusively use Pennzoil top portfolio level full synthetic oil (e.g., Pennzoil Ultra)

"Up to 300,000 miles or 10 years if you exclusively use other Pennzoil motor oil products (Pennzoil Conventional, High Mileage, SUV, Truck & Minivan, and Platinum)

So they are lumping the PP down their with the regular conventionals :)

http://www.pennzoil.com/#/warranty/ has the low-down. Ooops, I misread. I was wrong, the air cleaner does not need to be serviced every 4k...It DOES say "air cleaner elements must be replaced and emission control system must be maintained in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations."

Note: It's not (yet) changing the 4k/4month interval between oil changes, the warranty is only giving a longer engine life for those using their Platinum product....hehe.

This is very cool that you are doing this. Props to not 'hiding' from your customers!

I'd also like to know about the reason for not marketing this oil as an extended-drain oil. I'm guessing it's more than capable of it, and you should 'step-up' to the plate and let the oil prove itself.

This is a more broad question regarding Shell's automotive lubricant offerings. What is the relationship (differences) between the Formula Shell, Quaker State and Pennzoil product lines?

Can Pennzoil® Ultra™ provide protection for the maximum oil change interval recommended in an owner's manual or by the oil life sensor?

Let me add me my ditto on your communication effort with BITOG. As to the earlier questions about 0W-XX oils, if there are no plans to add these grades - I am curious as to why not?

This is not a question, it is a request:

1. Will you offer Pennzoil Ultra coupon(s)/rebate(s) to members of BITOG ?

2. Will you pay for the cost of used oil analysis of Pennzoil Ultra, so that you have real world data how it performs in many differences engines and environments.

Many BITOG members like SOPUS products and we would like to work with you so that you will have the best oil on the market.

What is the specific weight percent of the following in Ultra:
1) sulfated ash wt. %
2) phosphorus wt. %
3) zink wt. %
4) calcium wt. %
