Hello BITOG Members from the team at Pennzoil.

We have been closely monitoring BITOG leading up to our launch for the new Pennzoil UltraTM and have seen the tremendous conversation taking place around this product and the questions that many of you still have. With that, we are happy to announce that the chatter has served you well and we would like to offer you an opportunity to have your questions answered by the experts behind Pennzoil UltraTM.

We greatly appreciate the interest everyone has shown in our new product and would like to show our commitment to lubricant and automotive enthusiasts like all of you. Beginning today, with this post, we will open a special thread for all of you to submit your questions to our team.

The thread will be open for question collection until Saturday morning. At that time, we will gather the questions posted and spend the next week answering as many as we can before providing you answers on Friday March 19th. We are extremely excited to be able to do this, and we have only a few requests:

1. Please use this thread ONLY to submit questions, and please keep commentary or feedback on the product to the other areas of the site. Many members of the team do visit from time to time and always note feedback.
2. Please understand that there will be some questions that we will not be able to answer. We can not divulge any proprietary information and can only speak from our areas of expertise.
3. Please understand that we will not and cannot comment or speculate on the products of our competitors.

Thank you all for the understanding and enthusiasm.

Please ask any questions you may have as our team consists of marketers, engineers, formulators and ASE Certified Technicians from our R&D group. You will also be pleased to know that some of the team are already BITOG members. Some of the members answering your questions will be:

Will Pennzoil make any recommendations for extended drain intervals for Ultra, similar to Mobil 1 Extended Performance?

1. What is the TBN of Ultra?

2. Can it be considered a long OCI oil?

3. What is the main anti-wear additve?

4. Will the Hyper Cleaning additives be visible in a used oil analysis?

Will Ultra available in 0W20, 0W30 and 0W40 grades ? And do you try to make them available at retail stores when you have these grades ?

Pennzoil Platinum 0W20, 0W30 and 5W40 are available only online, when do you have these grades in retail stores such as Pep Boys, Autozone, Kragen, Walmart ... ?

The 5-quart bottle should be made available to all retailers and distributors, not just Wal Mart. And, if the big push is at Wal Mart, you should ask corporate Wal Mart to force all stores to carry the product. My local Wal Mart, and we only have one, and it is a Super Center with a Sam's next door, does not carry the Ultra in any weight or container size. A population of over 67,000 that has no place to buy the product.

Strike a deal with corporate Mills Fleet Farm at their corporate office in Appleton, WI. We, "you" use to work very closely with them.

Are the basestocks group III, IV, or V and what percentages of each? Thanks very much for fielding these questions!

to BITOG! I really like the idea of this thread and the tone you want it to take. Thanks for taking the time.

Has Pennzoil Ultra been tested against European ACEA standards? The TDS for Ultra does not mention meeting any ACEA standards. However Platinum's TDS does.

Why hasn't Pennzoil suggested that Ultra is capable of extended drain intervals, once you are outside the warranty period for your vehicle? With competitor oils offering extended drain intervals, I feel this is necessary to be competitive.

A VOA performed on this board showed a significant amount of boron in the formulation of Ultra

As there are many types of boron, some focusing on cleanliness and others on anti-friction/anti-wear, what is/are the function(s) of boron in Ultra's formulation?

Has pennzoil incorporated any type of Esters into the base oil blend for Ultra (no need quantities as I am sure that is proprietary)?

Can you specify what kinds?

Will Ultra 5W-40 replace the Platinum Euro 5W-40? When will we see the Ultra 5W-40 in stores?

And one last one - You state that Ultra already meets the new SN standards.

As a current user of Pennzoil conventional, will you be upgrading your other product lines, Pennzoil Platinum, Pennzoil Conventional, etc, to the SN standard anytime in the near future as well?
