Oil.

I used think I was an expert, and in comparison to most everyone I know personally, I am an expert because they know so da**ed little, but Bitog makes me shut my mouth and listen.

At one time, I believed that Pennzoil syn was garbage. Now, I'm thinking Pennzoil is a fantastic syn oil! Both of my vehicles are running like striped apes!

So, my hat's off to you, Bitogers!

Now I'm gonna order a batch of Synlube!

I agree 100%!! I know more then people I know do, but this place puts me to shame. I like to help where I can but Johnny, doug, and others really know their stuff.

No synlube for me

This place has helped me realize that ALL modern oils are probably overkill for the application.

Also that the average consumers opinion on oil quality is just that.....an OPINION based on hearsay not on actual facts or reality.

I feel that a growing number of BITOGer's bring there opinions here and post them as FACT which most of the time is incorrect.

:D

if I had loads of cash, and a full bypass filter setup, I'd probably consider experimenting with Synlube.

For now, PU is kicking budtt!

+1

Look at the used oil analysis.

Change your oil every 4,000 miles or so. Your engine will go to the junkyard with a very clean valvetrain!!
Use coventional, unless your car requires synthetic.

All this hype over PU, Castrol Edge,or the next "wonder oil" is just splitting hairs. Any namebrand oil, in the right viscocity, changed at proper OCI, will make your car last longer than you are going to want to drive it.

Castrol GTX is the factory fll, and the car really runs strong on it, but the consumption is outrageous! And my engine is heavily varnished, so I presume the rate of consumption caused the varnish. So I figure a good syn is the way to go. PU is great!

I'm thinking about some PU myself, but I have to take care of another thing BITOG taught ne-the deal on oil!

It's going to be a while to get throught the NS and PP stashes...

But if you send the used oil back, they refund your money. (But what oil will you use in the meantime?)

This is a great site. I knew nothing about oil before I joined in October. I didn't even have an idea what the W in 10w40 meant. My only saving grace was using synthetic the last 8 yrs on advice from a mechanic friend. It compensated for my lax and ignorant attitude towards OCIs.
I actually found the site googling for mechanical advice on changing struts.
