BITOG has a reputation for banning.

Profanity is a weak communicator trying to express themselves forcibly.

The most powerful speeches, plays, and other writings in human history refrain from indulging in the use of profanity and yet are profound enough to last centuries and are studies of literature today and for many many years to come.

I am happy that I can come to a place where profanity isn't displayed. Consequently its a place that carries an air of professionalism and learning when compared to many other sites on the internet.

Thanks BITOG for your higher standards

I like the higher standards!

But, can I at least say one word, it's a PANFISH! Not a Sunfish, but similar in size.

They're black and white and called a [censored]! Why can I not say [censored]?

I guess William Shakespeare has been overlooked here?

We dont need any more Violence Porn not even the classic ones!!! Shakespaere was cranking out the pulp trash of his time like Quenten Tarantino Wes Craven and Michael Bay are now for entertaiment!! Who wants to read about headless corpsies getting dragged behind horses and similar atrocities???

Well, now I feel left out- been a member here for years & have never been banned! Hmm... just gonna have to work on being confrontational- or rude- or political- or religious- or somethingI guess!

And FWIW- I wouldn't put too much stock in that type of search. There's a certain amount of "adverse selection" going on there.

Even in a civil way, one should not insult or put down another.

Well I didnt say you should do that Johnny!! I meant to point out that if someone says insutling stuff in a civel manner it often passes while it really shouldnt!!!

If profanity is overused, it's effect is less meaningful. If a particular individual uses profanity excessively or inappropriately (Yes! I believe profanity can be appropriate as a means of extreme emphasis. The word is a communication Tool.) then it just shows His/Her lack of communication skills.
Euphemisms (Heck etc.) To me just seem a little 'Silly' and pointless.
But, This is a private site, the owner can make any rules she likes, we live with them or were 'Darned'

You do something wrong and you get punished. I don't see what's wrong with that.

Profanity should not be used as a communication tool. It's for the people that lack a better way of expressing themselves. It's one thing if you're in the heat of the moment and say a "bad" word. It's another to type it or use it as part of your everyday language. One thing is for sure, the people that have heard me cuss know to take it very seriously as it happens very rarely and only in extreme circumstances. It's just not classy to use it as part of the everyday language.

I'm sure the guy who said that was exaggerating. Nothing wrong with a spanking for being out of line. Let's not get off topic by diverting attention away from the potty mouths.

Why not?

Ever deal with a Drill Sergeant?

Yes, although we called them "TI's" when I was in BMT at Lackland. And the last time I checked BITOG was not the military, so your point is?

WEEElllll, the point is that dealing with a Drill Sergeant/TI, I'm sure you got insulted or put down one way or another, this was and is the way they got you to do what they wanted "NOW" with no questions asked.

And yes there is times stupidy is granted the punishment of profanity, insults, and put downs. After all this is the real world and not LaLa land. If anyone out there has NEVER used or liked to used (which is just as bad) profanity they live in such a sheltered and boaring life I personnally would want no part of it.

With all this said it is good to come here where it is keep to an absalute minimum. I however am not one to be run over by anyone by any means, be it verbal or physical violence, this is one reason I carry.

So now I hope you realize just what my point is, and it is a very sharp point if need be.

I remember that guy too. I don't remember the first name he posted under but I remember he was a militant Ipod fanatic.

I was apparently banned (didn't notice for a few days because I was traveling) for using a tongue in cheek creative spelling for the act of copulation. It wasn't directed at any users and I (apparently mistakenly) thought people would take it in the spirit that it was offered...in jest. But I guess not.

Oh well...live and learn.
