BITOG has a reputation for banning.

I googled BITOG and 2 of the top 5 hits on google page are about being banned by BITOG. Maybe the mods should take it easy?

Full disclosure: I was banned twice in the past (and I hope only twice).

I would think if you followed the rules then you shouldn't worry about getting banned, if you have a problem with someone send them a PM and you should be able too work it out. I know many of us feel we are experts on a certain subject and it is hard too not jump all over a post where we feel we must put our 2 cents in.

i think you only claim to have been banned, but are actually in the witness protection program, and cannot reveal you past identity, just like myself.

moderators basically don't want the forum to degenerate, like many other internets forums have.

some forums are self policing, and have trusted users that can delete posts. because the structure of this forum is different, you will get banned by the moderator, but you can appeal to Helen, and if you make your case, she will let you stay. Basically, it is like you are in someone's house - you behave by the house rules. if someone doesn't like it, they can start their own forum. that's called democracy.

That's good. It makes people think twice before doing stupid stuff. While it does constrict conversation at times, all in all it's a good thing.

It's a private board and rules need to be respected. That said I do find the moderation a bit harsh... JMO. But I say nothing to the Mods/Admins because it's a private board with posted rules.

Well, Steve, everyone thinks that they're just about perfect in how they view things. They don't view themselves as perfect, per se~, but think that their defects are normal and therefore tolerable. They can live with themselves just fine.

Believe it or not, I like it. It keeps things from getting too crazy, and it helps to keep more members here.


Since I own a Cavalier or two, I tend to hit jbody.org to both help people, or ask a question of my own. That site can be completely nuts some days, with people battling about everything!


Like headlights, for example. It can start quite a flame war...

All in all I like the rules. Being a member of several boards, it's refreshing to have everything stay somewhat civil. Same with cussing, no need on a message board. That second or two you have to type words should be enough to calm down and not do it.

With that said, I've been warned a couple times. I tend to be a little harsh sometimes but everytime I've been warned, there was nothing to dispute, I was in the wrong. Helen was actually very nice about it.

The people getting banned probably deserve it. I'm a [censored], often times intentionally, and I have yet to be banned.

The two things I got banned for were my assertions that various makes of automobiles should compared on a fair and equal basis and a single use of an anagram which implied a biological function...as a joke, not even directed at anyone hurtfully.

Although allowed back, it's apparently under a permanent scrutiny that makes for an uneasy feeling. I would have just assumed stay under a pseudoname and be without The Scarlet Letter. Over time, I pitched in plenty of meaningful and well-intended posting, but all that years of effort and the goodwill of directing other people to this site could get yanked out from under me if I make a single misstep or respond in kind to some of the bad things said to me.

It might not be personal or anything, just an easy way to administer a website, but that's no comfort when things are out of whack. Believe me, some of the things that happen here are unfair. I could quote (out of context) bad names, statements and insults made to me which if I made them I'd be banned. How is that fair?
