I have a Weber Genesis gas grill and it was the absolute best $800 I have spent in my entire life. When it is time to rebuild it, I will rebuild it. And when it is time to replace it, I will buy another Weber Genesis to replace it. Fantastic grills. Everyone that has one loves them.

Gas grills are disgusting. Have you even tasted food that comes off of them? Tastes like methyl mercaptan

Sounds like someone doesn't know how to use one...I cook on one all the time and my food always comes out delicious!

Never had a problem with cooking on gas. Never had any off tasting food on gas; it's all in how you season your grill. I love charcoal, but gas is a convenience for doing something quick. I bought a combo gas/charcoal about a month ago and love it. Lump charcoal is a must; it heats up so much quicker and burns longer.

You'd think on a forum full of 50-somethings that work on their cars every weekend people would be a little less boner obsessed with propane.

It's an oil byproduct. No wonder that folks around here love the stuff.

If you love cooking proteins for others, it may be a worthwhile investment. Cook the proteins, scrub, and then cook the veggies while the proteins are resting. That way everything comes to the table hot.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

My son has a big green egg and quite a few of the accessories. He thinks it's the greatest thing ever. I think my $50, 30 year old Weber kettle does just as well as his $1,500 BGE. . I love my clean burning Weber gas grill as well.

holy [censored]? $1500? That wouldn't be worth it if it was made of gold.

Weber rolled out their 2016 lineup about two months ago. Their top of the line kettle grills now bear the Summit name, just like their top gas grills.

How much will a new Weber Summit kettle set you back? About the same as your son's BGE: $1,500

Welcome to the new normal of luxury BBQ.

Or get a used large charcoal grill on craigslist for $100 or brand new smaller one that does the SAME FREAKING THING AS EVERY OTHER GRILL apparently for $50 brand new.

I guess you found your answer, didn't you?

Enjoy your veggies.

Too funny. You started a thread about an over priced charcoal grill, then make the comment that someone else should get a used charcoal grill on Craigslist that does the "same freaking thing as every other grill". Thanks for the laugh!

My $50 Weber was bought in 1986, and cooks everything from burgers and dogs to whole pork shoulders, to big butts beautifully! It would take a man with a 'VERRRY BIG STICK' to get my Weber, gas or charcoal grills. Buy them once, and you buy them for life.

My BIL has a BGE and makes great food with it.

I have a 22" Weber Kettle and make great food with it.

Anything from burgers to whole smoked chicken to vegetables and porkbutts, It's all good.

The biggest plus for the Weber is its ease to move it around compared to the BGE.
