Anyone else ever raise chickens for eggs or meat?

As a hobby sure, but to be "ahead" money wise, it's a losing proposition between time, costs... feed, a coop, chicks, heat in winter, more time. Constant cull from weasels or whatever killing tgem.
Eggs and chicken are fairly cheap.

I did it a couple years. Chickens and ducks, and came to my senses.

Raising a few chickens for the table, is no money making proposition. Store bought is MUCH less expensive, but the quality is not there. Same with the eggs.
Home grown beef, chicken and eggs are so much more nutritious and tastier.

I can relate to that feeling of not wanting chicken after a butchering weekend! I've only got a dozen layers now, but they've been thriving since I started using Roosty's Dewormer. Keeps worms away naturally and saves me a vet visit every season
