I installed a set of "performance" brake pads onto my truck. Although the pads provided a material improvement in pedal feel and performance, the noise levels are equivalent to a school bus. I understand there's no free lunch, but I would like to find a way of reducing the noise while retaining some of the performance improvement.

Has anyone used this particular snake oil from BG?

This appears to be a graphite product in an alcohol carrier. I did some online searches and this is the only review I found. Does anyone else have experience with this product?

So this impregnates its self into the friction material? sounds like a last resort a shop would use when they can't quiet a lousy brake job or buy some extra time out of a set of pads that ought to be changed. Does your truck have aluminum or cast iron calipers? Just a thought if you installed semi-metallic pads on aluminum calipers I hear that can sound like a 3 piece band.

I’ve used it on a set of Napa pads that wouldn’t quiet down (this was at least 15 years ago too, so idk if the formula has changed but same method etc)

My experience was it quieted the pads for about a week, maybe 2. Then it’d be right back. It wasn’t worth the hassle. Idk how much it costs, I had some free from working at a dealership and just having it left over.

Cast iron calipers.

This may not help, but years ago I replaced a set of pads and also used a new set of shims. The brakes made noise. The replacement shims did not fit as nice as the originals. I put the original shims back on and the noise was eliminated. Good luck

I’ve used this stuff a few times in the past and can confirm it does work. From what I remember it’s very thin. Looks like black ink.
