BG stop squeal

We used it at the shop one time for a lady who's rear brakes on her Honda Odyssey were squealing, but weren't even close to worn out. Tried to save her the price of a brake job but in this instance anyway it didn't work. For the record, we've used and recommended BG products for years, so I trust them, but didn't work out this time. She opted for new brakes to get rid of the noise.

Anywhere there is any metal to metal contact and on the back of the pads, you can apply brake grease. It will do the same thing.

This goes on the friction material not a grease for the back. I have only put it on new pads never used ones. It’s supposed to soak in the pad and last a while.

No good or bad from it.

Is this the stuff that comes in a small bottle and looks like black ink? Used it years ago on customers cars who bought cheap pads that made noise but still had plenty of pad left. We didn’t have any issues with it

Supposedly it’s a graphite additive that works by reducing friction levels.

Basically snake oil.
I’ve used it on a set of squealy napa adaptive one pads. They convinced me to try them when they began stocking them, I always used the premium plus line (akebono) napa pads. I tried them on my wife’s car and they squealed when warmed up, drove us crazy. The BG stop squeal only temporarily worked. Ended up buying new pads.
