During a web search, I noticed that BG now makes an universal synthetic CVT fluid (Part #318) for all belt-driven CVTs, such as the one in my mother's 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5SR V6.

The cost is the same as the Nissan stuff, which is about $16/qt shipped.

BG's products usually work very well, so I was thinking about switching over to this fluid when I do a flush at 30,000 miles. Does anyone have any experience with this fluid in a second-generation Jatco JF010E-- that is, a Nissan RE0F09B?

Thanks!

+1 on approval.

What is the manufacturer spec for fluid change? Given the different form of changing ratios, the wear profile is likely different.

The only approved fluid is Genuine Nissan NS-2.

The manual has several different intervals.

For "premium maintenance," which is essentially the schedule that BITOGers would follow, the schedule requires a cooler line flush every 30,000 miles.

For everyone else, it says to perform a cooler line flush every 60,000 miles if you tow, drive in dusty areas, etc. Otherwise, you would perform the cooler line flush whenever the onboard computer's CVT deterioration value reaches a predetermined number.

The CVT's deterioration value means replay the CVT!

Plenty of CVTFs coming out.
