BG Fluids... ATF, Power Steering, Brakes

My mechanic offers BG service for power steering, transmission, and brakes. I'm a bit of a noob, but I've never heard of BG. Are these fluids/services any good?

Also, the mechanic wants to flush my transmission. Most DIYs I see only drain and fill. What are the pros and cons between each?

The BG stuff is very expensive, not sure if it is worth the price.

BG is a very good "universal" fluid IMHO. It does not get a lot of discussion on here.

Ask your mechanic for a sample of it. Next time you go to Waffle House or IHOP pour it on some pancakes. It makes them taste yummy.

What kind of vehicle? Don't ever flush a Honda. The BG machines are ok if you have them do an exchange with factory ATF. Skip the BG chemicals because only the purchasing manager at BG really knows what fluids are actually in those bottles.

You can do you own cooler line fluid exchange for 1/3 the normal price.

It's a 2003 Corolla, 65k. Is it bad to flush some vehicles? The BG products claim compatibility wit Toyota... I plan on doing my own coolant flush, but don't have time for my own ATF and Power Steering service. What are the pros/cons of flushing versus drain&fill. Obviously, a drain&fill is all I can do on my own.

It is very high quality unicorn saliva infused snake oil just like Wynn's, MOC, Justice Brothers, etc. They use only genuine Irish snake oil and Australian unicorn saliva.

hahaha good one . In all seriousness the BG service is not worth the price . If you want the trans serviced just do a pan drop.

Pro: save $$ and know what ATF goes in. Con: DIY

If you do 3 drain fills you will be fine. Do about 2-3 miles of driving to mix it up in between each D/F

Insist on a brand name fluid for each component that meets the fluid specs of the vehicle.

Yeah stay away from the BG products stuff. It's just hydrocarbon solvent and light oil mixed together and sprayed into your intake tract.

If you really want a cleaning - seafoam through a vacuum tube will cost you
If you're intake is THAT dirty - take it all apart and clean it right.

Their intake cleaning service is supposed to be decent. It's a pro-level offering, definitely a step above the generic "spray this bottle in your throttle body" thing.

Ya the intake cleaner and injector cleaner where you disable the fuel pump and plumb it into the fuel rail actually works well. The fluid "supplements" or whatever it is they call them are snake oil. All the various snake oil peddlers come in here trying to sell their stuff. We use MOC, but that decision is way above my pay grade to worry about.
