I am lucky I have two cars that are good on gas, so it is really not need as much here. Since I seem to have good luck with the ecotec engine, I may go with the 2.4 (gutless as it seems).
I would go for a truck, but I just would not use it to haul much, which kinda kills the point of a truck....plus a full size truck will not fit in my garage....

I really don't think the 2.4 is gutless. It merges ok onto the interstate (I have I-95 going through my town in Chester, VA). Sometimes I have to get it to 70 at the end of the ramp to keep from getting run over by a big truck hauling a?? in the right lane.

What lets it down is its transmission programming -- its 6 speeds could work so much better in making the most of those ~150 cubic inches than they do. That's my complaint in general with transmission programming on many cars -- I feel like I have to manually shift it to get it to do what I want. After owning a few vehicles like that in the past, transmission programming is now one of my major criteria when considering a vehicle.

I hear you. I found the 166 hp 2.4L in our CR-V to be adequate, but I enjoy the V-6 in the Ridgeline more.
Just picked up a new 2015 GMC Terrain DENALI for the wifey, and we both are happy, this replaces a 2000 S10 Blazer that my wife sold to her niece, comes with all the bells and whistles as well as the V6 and 19" wheels. the ride is nice and quiet, really comfortable on long road trips, if you decide on the Equinox or Terrain, get the V6, you'll be happy you did.
