Better Grip Philips Bits?

Wrenching on my '87 Toyota Land Cruiser I have shredded a few rusted Philips head screws. My stock is old school craftsman screwdrivers. With tech such as Grip Edge out now I was wondering if there was a better screwdriver / bit that would grip better and do less damage and work with whatever damage might be inherent to the fastener? Wera, Vessel, etc.? Thanks...

Try a Vessel Megadora Impacta, it is the best rusted Phillips JIS screwdriver I have used

Did you leave them in the rain? Still work after rusting, not bad.
WOW, to clarify the topic of rust in this thread: the rust was on the fastening screw and threaded hole, not the screw removal tool. I would not recommend leaving any tool out where it is exposed to rain or other conditions that could damage it.

I bought a 2-piece set of Quinn at Harbor Freight ( Phillips #2 and 1/4 straight) set for $3.99, ant the fit and durability were very good.

I find that after buying jis screwdrivers I use then on all philips/cross point screws. They just give a more positive engagement regardless of whether it's jis or not.

Started with a cheap set of Hozan and upgraded to Vessels in both fixed and interchangeable tip. Great screwdrivers that are essential if you're working on old JDM stuff and you won't regret having them in general.
