Best ZF transmission oil for Honda Pilot touring 2017

Why does everyone not want to use the correct fluids in automatic transmissions? Must be they are either very wealthy and can afford the rebuild or they are them selves rebuilders.
Here is a good rule of thumb if it is a Japan type vehicle, Idemitsu is the auto trans supplier, and the dealer bottles have that in them.
Why gamble with other brands that Honda does not approve of.
Yeah the other brands say it is compatible, but all that is, is talk to sell the product.

This vehicle has a german transmission made by a company called ZF. Also Idemitsu doesn't make all of the fluids for all of the Japanese transmissions.
Honda 3.1 ATF or ZF Lifeguard 9 would be what I use. I believe they are identical.
Maxlife also reports compatibility!

My thought exactly. Why risk a multi-thousand dollar repair over an extra hundred bux in fluid cost?
I use PENTOSIN ATF 9. Its Honda 3.1 approved and is full syn. It's NOT a multi use fluid.
Not sure that Honda Approves fluids from third party, but I'm sure Pentosin ATF 9 is an excellent fluid and will perform well.
Why do people come onto oil discussion forums and tell people not to discuss oil?
Probably Lifeguard 9, but it is unclear whether it is 8 or 9.
Idemitsu fluid is not approved by Honda either. In that regard it is just the same as the other brands that are "compatible".

Mine shifts better with the PENTOSIN ATF 9 and the Honda Manuel says as long as it is equivalent which it is. And its full syn
Seems this is the best option and is reasonable also online

Yes they are the cheapest but I have to get 8 quarts for doing the flush for about $200 + $35 for delivery!!
I wouldnt do a flush. Just change it one time. thats about 4 qts
NAPA has Maxlife on sale for $23/4 quarts. I’d sure try that at $50 before I’d spend $235 for another compatible fluid.
You can get a 5.25 qt jug of PENTOSIN ATF 9 on rock auto for $82
I have to do flush this time because I already changed twice and the still feel the jerk in second gear.
That may be normal. When cold I get the same thing. Its a character of the 9-speed trans
