Best time to buy a new tv?

My TCL Roku tv which is 8 years old is losing it's backlight. One side of the screen is normal and the other side is darkened.

I was wondering what time around this year is the best to search for.

I'm looking for:
4k
40-43 inches
Roku capable

I found a 43" TCL Roku TV for $138 on Walmart but it's shipping only - no pickup, or a pioneer 43" Roku TV from bestbuy for 139.09 with taxes.

Are these deals going to be the best I can find before the end of the year so should I expect the price to drop even more after Christmas?

Mid November I purchased a 43 inch Toshiba for $129 on Amazon that I use for tv and PC desktop usage. Its now $159, but I dont know if thats a product of data mining and my own search results.

Back around 2000 I paid $800 for a 21 inch CRT computer monitor.

Most of the time I've bought between Thanksgiving and Christmas and there were multiple brands and multiple models in every size, often with a special deal on price. The times I have had to buy at other times of the year, the selection was much more limited and nobody was offering special deals.

I paid $750.00 for a new RCA 25 inch console TV non remote control and hooked it up to a roof mounted ‘Tenna Rotor’ that would pull in 4 network stations back in 1976……it doubled as a TV and a piece of furniture!
I did the same and it was my first TV and I still have it and it works well but sitting in a spare room. Yes a RCA

Last month was the best time, Black Friday/Cyber Monday :sneaky:

Is 43" really the largest TV that can fit in your room? ;)

Also, any TV is Roku capable as long as it has a HDMI port. Just get a Roku dongle :D

$139 still isn't a bad price though :)

I ordered the one from Walmart. Same model as this one in the Pic. $143 for 8 more years?
Yes please.

Buy it now and enjoy the Games. A 10% price reduction on 140 buck TV is $14. Go get what you want and enjoy.

I forget the reasoning, but Consumer Reports has always stated that February had traditionally offered the steepest discounts of the year. I just purchase based on need, I have never timed it.

I think TV's have a model year like vehicles and the new TV's usually come out in March? But on a cheap 43" TV I wouldn't worry myself over it. You'd be better served with a 55" TV in my opinion.
Yes, this. I just looked at the OPs price points...just do it. :)
And I will agree you never regret getting a slightly larger TV.

Agreed. It’s hard to tell how big that room is but for another $30-50 he could go quite a bit larger.

A day or two before your current one quits working completely, so there is time for delivery and set up of the new one. I have had good luck with Sony TVs'; I don't even know Sony makes TVs' anymore.
