Just felt like opening a can of worms. Who makes the best synthetic blend (labeled).
I realize that many conventional oils are also blends but lets stick with the ones marketed as a step up.

Im betting that Maxlife and Magnatec get the most mentions.

MaxLife is a HM oil, but DEXOS certified and is a blend. Durablend which can be found at Autozone is a blend as well. There is no "best" also but plenty of blends that will get the job done

This one often gets overlooked and not mentioned but I'm a big fan of Mobil Super High Mileage. $3 cheaper than maxlife and is more quiet in the Taurus.

I am on my 2nd fill of Quaker State Enhanced Durability Synthetic Blend DEXOS1 approved 5W30 in the Forester. Seems like a really high quality oil, and cheap by the jug at wal mart.

What are the rules to this thread?
Does synthetic blend mean a blend of two or more synthetic base stocks, or a synthetic with a conventional?
Can the product be dual rated such as CJ-4/SN or just gasoline "S" for spark ignition?
If a person had both Diesel and gasoline fuelled vehicles, lived in a moderate climate, and wanted one engine oil for all,
either a synthetic blend 15W40 or 10w30 CJ-4/SN could do the trick.

But not for me, I need either 5W40 or 0W40, both synthetic, for a one-size fits all, four season engine oil.

I don't know about best, but the two synthetic blends I have used the most are Valvoline DuraBlend and Castrol Magnatec.

I completely understand the person that said a Dexos blend, but for myself I buy Euro rated A3/B4 blends. But that's the good thing about blends, they are the least expensive oils that carry good specs like Dexos & A3/B4.

I would personally say Valvoline MaxLife, Pennzoil Gold & Motorcraft.

MaxLife is 30-40% syn, Pennz. Gold is 50% & Motorcraft is 60%. UOAs of all show they are solid oils & very well capable of 7,500 miles or even further in easy conditions.

Yep, I would go for any of the DEXOS1 blends. I do like the Pennzoil Gold but there are others that are good to go as well.

Who are you trying to impress?

How does one misinterpret that and come up with the diatribe you provided?

My vote is for trop artic. 60% group 3 and can be had for $2/qt on sale. Been using it for a decade or so with great success (many vehicles running great at +200k).

This.

If pricing is a factor in this debate then it's hard to overlook Trop-Artic. Good UOAs and can easily go 7.5k in the right vehicle with normal driving conditions.

If it wasn't for WM's 3 for 1 sale of Syn Power(5qt jugs) and NAPA's recent Syn sale, my stash would be filled with Trop-Artic.

What about rotella blend? Just curious about what ratio it is blended. Im new to all this stuff and I dont even know what you guys are talking about sometimes with all the acronyms. I need to be schoed so i can keep up. Lol

Go to the PQIA website and compare the tests they have done on some blends.
