"why not kansas" taxes, bad roads, did i say taxes? out dated laws. but for some reason in Wichita, has a LOT of very good restaurants.

Actually SC isn't bad. Good place to register a vehicle that won't pass NC inspection (a common practice in the Charlotte metro area), cheaper to live there, cheaper to buy a house.
Western NC can range from touristy to a good place to do meth.

Another advantage to SC/NC places with close proximity...the illegal fireworks the neighbors are setting off right now.
Every state has places that are sewer holes and places that are nice.
Americans go where the good paying jobs are. My niece got a job in N Texas and really likes it, in college she said she had no plans to leave Florida.
Without a job lined up in another state, there is no reason to move if you are expecting to find work when you get there.
