I've used it for years and all of my computers are online 24/7 and NEVER had a virus or issue.

Free download for AVG

I've used at work Norton, Mcafee and HAVE had viruses.

Take care, bill

For a free online scanner, try the F-secure online scanner, http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml. It's best to perform it in Safe Mode With Networking, and I'll warn you ahead of time. It is SLOW, but it is thorough and good at removing virus/spyware issues. The online scanner is better than their actual anti-virus program, in my opinion, so install AVG and use it for your normal anti-virus.

I run Avira on my two computers and the 4 computers at work and have had zero problems. And there is some shady stuff being looked at and downloaded at work.

House Call By Trend Micro Has two methods of doing the on line scan, by using ActiveX objects are enabled or if that don't work, you can use the "Java VM Core Engine.

Chances of the network firewall blocking both options are possible but remote.

Used AVG for a couple years now. No complaints with the way it runs or updates etc, but it's NEVER found anything, web or email. Other AV programs I've used would pick something up from time to time.

Same story with Super Antispyware, never finds a thing. I can run Spybot right after and it picks up on few things.

What kind of luck did you have with House Call From Trend Micro doing an online scan?

Hope that you had some luck with House Call!

House Call and the other on-line scanners mentioned work well cleaning up things on a system.

For an installed anti-virus program I use the free non-commercial version of AVG and periodically use on-line scanners like House Call to scan too.
