I use the Turtle Wax spray on type. It’s thick enough I can leave it on a vertical surface. A little soaking helps. Still requires a bit of scrubbing with a rag.

I use this too, removes 95% of bugs for me. For extra long coverage I spray the area and put a paper towel over it so it stays on longer.
