Best 9mm for the money?

Not a handgun, but my HiPoint 9mm carbine was stupid cheap, is very reliable, and is a lot of fun. Plus, it has a lifetime warranty. I have already gotten my $200 worth out of it.

As much as I hate to say it, the Glock is VERY hard to beat. When you can get factory reconditioned Glocks for $450, they hold a bunch of rounds, don't jam, and have a huge variety of lights and sights....can't beat it. I just happen to shoot a Beretta 92FS way better, so that's what I have. Shot about 2000 rounds in a week with a 92FS with no cleaning and no jams. Not even a lube and wipe down. Not gonna say it's in the GLOCK league, but it's close on reliability, probably not on DURABILITY. (something people confuse often.)I just figure if I have to spend a little more money for a weapon I shoot better, then it's money well spent. I will say this, pick a quality 9mm you shoot well, and that's the best one for the money for you.

Yep, excellent 9mm weapon.. Hard to load the ammo into the magazine though...
Bill once you get it loaded it is something special.

I just picked up a Sturm Ruger P95 for $350 OTD. I haven't shot it yet, but did shoot a P94 from the past. I really don't have any reviews just the price I got today.

It does have a polymer frame in case that is a problem. Comes in blue or stainless and 15 or 10 round clip. I think the 10 round is only for some states that carry restrictions.

It sounds like the Glock is the choice here, but read this and explain.

"ACTION
Safe and ingeniously simple: Contrary to conventional, the trigger is the only operating element. All three pistol safeties are deactivated when the trigger is pulled -and automatically activated when it is released."

The safeties are bypassed when the trigger is pulled. Well, then that wouldn't make it a safety then would it?

I don't get it.

It's my understanding that safeties prevent accidental firing. (dropped, etc)

The assumption being if your finger is on the trigger and pulled, you intend to fire the weapon.

Ok, just spent some time with the P95 and it is mostly intuitive and promotes safety and quick shooting.

Easy to disassemble. The clip is very tough to load the first time. My only worry is how the polymer grip/frame will hold up over time. Sure wish it was metal like what it looks to be on my pop's P94. It feels good in the hand in all, just looks cheezy and cheap. But I guess that is the price for good weight and weight distribution.

No worry about the frame. Its VERY strong and prob out last the alumium frame of the P94. (its NOT steel)

I've shot thousands and thousands out of my P85MKII/P89/P94/P90 with no wear. Quite a few out of my SR9Cs and P345 with no issue. Ruger knows what they are doing.

Regarding the Sigs. . .not to start a brand war, but my agency just dumped Sigs in favor of Glocks--the firearms instructors stated that agency-wide we had about a 30% failure rate--not jamming, but broken guns. These Sigs were purchased about three years ago (P239s, P229s) and didn't see heavy use (mostly twice per year qualifications for most of us). Sig has always made great guns and personally I didn't have any issues with my P229, but quality control seems to lack with them lately. . .just my two cents.

I would suggest looking into the CZ PO1 or the CZ 2075 RAMI P or RAMI BD
Very well built compact pistols.

I wouldn't worry - the Ruger P95, although low in price, has a very good reputation. Rugers in general are overbuilt utility pieces. You don't read too many stories of frames breaking or things of that nature. I'll take a cheezy looking "cheap" gun that works any day.

No surprise. Sig has been on the down slope since the guy from Kimber took over.

whichever one feels the best in your hand and when shooting---M&P, glock, springfield XD or XDM, ruger SR9 are ones to look at. Kahr are nice but more expensive.
